Mrs. Nilakshi Fernando, Founder / Managing Director of Lanka Adventure Explorers, was born and raised in Sri Lanka and has a deep-rooted connection to the island, its people, culture, and natural beauty.
With a strong understanding of the travel industry and a genuine passion for her homeland, she founded Lanka Adventure Explorers (LAE) with a simple belief: “Sri Lanka should be experienced, not just visited.”
Her vision is to create meaningful, personalised journeys that go beyond the usual tourist trail bringing travellers closer to the real Sri Lanka through authentic experiences, local connections, thoughtful hospitality, and expert local knowledge.
Under her leadership, Lanka Adventure Explorers is committed to responsible tourism, personalised service, and uncompromised quality. Every journey is carefully designed with the traveller in mind, while creating opportunities to support local communities, small businesses, traditional livelihoods, and sustainable tourism initiatives.
From village experiences and authentic local cuisine to cultural encounters and hidden corners of the island, Nilakshi believes that the most memorable journeys are those that create genuine connections with the destination, its people, and its stories.

My Passion Beyond Travel
Wildlife and nature have always been close to my heart. I particularly enjoy wildlife safaris and the excitement of being out in nature, observing animals in their natural surroundings. Yala National Park is one of my favourite places to experience this side of Sri Lanka. There is something truly special about sitting quietly with binoculars, watching wildlife in the wild and simply taking in the beauty of the surroundings.
Moments That Make It All Worthwhile
One of the most rewarding parts of my journey is seeing our guests truly enjoy Sri Lanka. Whether it is the excitement of discovering a new place, a family sharing a special moment, or a traveller experiencing something they will remember for years, their happiness means a great deal to me.
I love seeing the smiles, the laughter, the little surprises, and those unforgettable moments that happen along the way. These are the moments that remind me why I started Lanka Adventure Explorers to create journeys that become cherished memories.

From the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic and the peaceful Kandy Lake to its traditional heritage and warm local character, Kandy captures so much of what makes Sri Lanka unique.

As Destination Sales Manager, he plays an important role in turning travel ideas into thoughtfully planned journeys. As part of the Finance & Administration team, I look after financial coordination, records, payments, documentation, and day-to-day administrative tasks. Ruwanwelisaya is particularly special to me, with its magnificent white stupa and serene atmosphere. Being there offers a sense of peace and connection with Sri Lanka’s ancient heritage.
