Bundala National Park is a haven for nature enthusiasts, boasting approximately 100 species of water birds, with half of them being migratory. This diverse ecosystem hosts a spectacular display of wildlife, featuring the iconic Greater Flamingo in large flocks, often exceeding 1,000 individuals, making a stunning seasonal appearance. The park is also home to various other water birds, including the Lesser Whistling Duck, Garganey, Little Cormorant, Indian Cormorant, Grey Heron, Black-headed Ibis, Eurasian Spoonbill, Asian Openbill, Painted Stork, as well as medium-sized and small waders. Itinerary

Day 1 & 2 : Waikkal

  • Arrival in Colombo International Airport, meet and greet by our designated Chauffer cum Guide at the Arrival Lounge.
  • Transfer to Waikkal and check in to Wattura Resort and Spa
  • Enjoy a scrumptious lunch and in the afternoon take a walk to see the pelagic birds and shorebirds and a limited number of terns and gulls will be seen with white-bellied sea-eagles and brahminy kites.
  • Evening relax at the resort enjoying the facilities or enjoy a leisurely walk on the beach and a dip in the ocean – pure bliss!
  • Overnight stay in your first stay in in Sri Lanka
 Waikkal Day 2
  • Take morning and afternoon boat rides along Waikkal's Dutch Canal, gliding through mangroves to spot diverse water birds.
  • Discover the Gin Oya River and an 18th-century Dutch canal adorned with mangrove patches, riparian grasses, and old trees. Encounter at least ten species, including grey heron, purple heron, and four types of kingfisher. Spot water birds like purple swamphen, black bittern, and Indian pond heron.   • After a delicious breakfast, embark on a journey to Wilpattu
  • Enroute, explore the Anawilundawa and Nawadankulama.
